After months of hard work, feedback, and learning, I launched Curl2Url on Product Hunt. Two weeks ago, on March 19, 2024, I eagerly submitted Curl2Url to Product Hunt, only to find it missing from the spotlight. Perplexed, I delved deeper, stumbling upon a tab housing all products posted that day, there was Curl2Url, lost at the bottom of the page.
Thank you for sharing your Product Hunt insights. Just wanting a backlink, I launched my first and only product with no preparation last year. My launch was lackluster to put it mildly.
However, I found something peculiar about the platform. The products which repeatedly did well had a network of marketeers working for them. 1 week before the launch, a day before the launch, on the day of the launch they would reach out to their network to get upvotes.
How do I know? I visited product hunt for 100 straight days and earned many badges. People started to reach out for my support. When I analyzed their profiles, I realized these products had big marketing teams.
There are indie projects that do well but they usually have a sizable following where their network is able to help them with upvotes.
I would say your effort was still worth it as you can reuse a lot of it for other channels.
Thanks for sharing your experience Kunal. I will try to incorporate looking at Product Hunt part of my daily routine and see how it goes (It can also give ideas for new projects).
Saw this article today while researching something. Product Hunt launch requires a lot of efforts and doing that when you are just building something on side is difficult. With this in mind, we built Peerlist Project Spotlight, you can launch your side project every week on Monday. Its a community of developers and designers.
